I recently received some exciting news: 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the Geneva International Motor Show. John was clearly more of an enthusiastic driver than a car cleaner. I can vividly recall those days as a young boy, seeing 4339 HJ parked in our driveway while I headed off on my bicycle to school. John Pullen used to drive from Wembley to visit my dad and present new ads, typically in the early morning so that he could get a clear run in the car. My dad worked from our home, with his office situated in our front room. In the 1960s, ’70s, and ’80s, John worked in advertising, creating ads for many clients, including my dad’s company. The initial owner of 4339 HJ was a work colleague of my father, John Pullen. My connection with my 1962 E-type Series 1 3.8 OTS (850469) extends back as far as my memory goes. The thought of writing about my Jaguar E-type’s history for this magazine has been on my mind for quite some time, and now seems as good a time as any. It’s a rather gloomy day, and here I am confined indoors, nursing a shoulder injury from my time at Snetterton race track during a practice session before an MGB historic race.
